Sonja Isemer

Sonja Isemer was born on the Baltic Sea coast in Schleswig-Holstein. She gathered her first theatrical experiences at Schauspiel Kiel. After training as an actor at Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich from 2005 to 2009, she worked at Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin from 2020 to 2014 and at Neues Theater Halle from 2014 to 2018.

Her work with directors like Claudia Bauer, Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Herbert Fritsch, Henriette Hörnigk, Wolfgang Engel, Ronny Jakubaschk, Christian Weise and Nora Abdel-Maksoud proved to be of special importance to her.

In 2010, she was a member of the cast of Herbert Fritsch’s production of “Der Biberpelz (The Beaver Coat)”, which was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen, and in 2011, she was nominated as Best Emerging Female Actor of the Year for her portrayal of Beatrice in “Der Diener zweier Herren (The Servant of Two Masters)” by the magazine Theater heute.
She has been living in Leipzig since 2018 and working as a guest performer at Theater Heilbronn, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Nationaltheater Mannheim and Volkstheater Rostock.

She joins the acting company at Schauspiel Leipzig at the beginning of the 2020/21 season.
