Thomas Braungardt

Thomas Braungardt, born in Berlin in 1981, studied at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst “Ernst Busch“ and received his diploma in 2005. He joined Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar in the same year. He worked on productions like “Othello” (invited to the “radikal jung”-Festival in 2007) and “Krankheit der Jugend” (invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2007) with director Tilmann Köhler. He followed Tilmann Köhler to Staatsschauspiel Dresden, where he stayed from 2009 to 2016. They worked together on productions like “Der Kaufmann von Venedig (The Merchant of Venice)”, which was invited to various festivals, including tours to Spain and Denmark, or “Mein deutsches deutsches Land” (invited to Autorentheatertage Berlin in 2015). He has also worked repeatedly with Friederike Heller, including productions like “Dantons Tod”, “Dämonen” or “Die Dreigroschenoper” (invited to the 2014 Brecht Festival in Augsburg). Thomas Braungart has further worked with directors like Dimiter Gotscheff, Sebastian Baumgarten, Wolfgang Engel, Volker Lösch, Jan Philipp Gloger, Laurent Chétouane and Simon Solberg.

Thomas Braungardt joined the company of Schauspiel Leipzig in the 2016/17 season.
