Featuring members of the theatre youth club “Sorry, eh!” & the ensemble
In keeping with the season’s motto “Miteinander / Ensemble (Together / Ensemble)”, there will once again be a production that brings together members of the theatre’s acting ensemble and the multiple award-winning theatre youth club “Sorry, eh!” This will be the fourth edition of Schauspiel Leipzig’s concept of working with a mixed company of amateurs and professionals and to gain new impulses from this special combination.
The first production was “TSCHICK” in 2016/17: Its 45 performances were met with great enthusiasm, first at the historical swimming pool and later at the theatre’s rehearsal rooms in Mockau. The concept of a mixed company was continued during the following seasons: In 2017/18, “Über Grenzen” was devised, based on texts by David Lindemann, and in 2018/19, the Leipzig version of Thomas Melle’s “Ännie” premiered, which will continue to be part of this season’s repertoire.
The theatre youth club “Sorry, eh!” was founded under the artistic direction of director and company member Yves Hinrichs. It has received several awards and was invited to Theatertreffen der Jugend in Berlin twice (2016 and 2018) as well as to the National Conference of Theatre Youth Clubs in 2016. Previous productions were “Frozen (Eisrauschen)”, “Never Ever Disconnected” and “Kult.”, based on Falk Richter, “Wunderland” by Gesine Danckwart, “Einige Nachrichten an das All” by Wolfram Lotz and the world premiere of Anton Artibilov’s “mind.body.workout”, which was presented as part of the 2019 Club Convention.
Yves Hinrichs studied acting at Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy”. After graduating, he worked at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Neues Theater Halle and Schauspiel Chemnitz. During his time in Halle and Chemnitz, he began working as the leader of theatre youth clubs and directed youth club productions at other theatres as well, including the 2017/18 season opening “Fake on me” at Theater Oberhausen. At Schauspiel Leipzig, Hinrichs is an ensemble member and directs. He most recently appeared in “If you were God”, a cooperation project with Leipzig Ballet. In 2017, he received the Leipzig Theatre Award of the Friends of Schauspiel Leipzig e. V.
