Circling, stumbling, falling – walking on. Choreographer Anna Till from Dresden enters into the interplay of precision and loss of control. The circle serves as a form of departure and as a continuing drive to make sure that the elliptical movements are steadily continued and the entire body is kept in motion. Dynamic turning stand for the highest degree of body control in dance. At the same time, it denotes ecstasy and euphoria. In the connection of the body between heaven and earth, it creates access to another dimension.

Dizziness, whirling, maelstrom, swirl, rush. A movement is begun and continued endlessly, we make our circles on a large and a small scale. Once we have started, how can we stop? Nothing disappears. Once we have started, things take their course, go on, change and resurface in a different form.

Staying down. Losing balance. Taking up the thread. The physical experience of turning as lust and devotion. But also as the challenge to find the right moment to stop. Or not.

Repetition, exhilaration, infinity. Together with a live band, five dancers set the space into vibration. The performance defies the central perspective. A space is divided. The relationship between the space that surrounds the body and the body itself is at the centre of attention. A community consolidates in the circular form. Once you join the movement, you join the community. Inclusion and exclusion.

Several interviews serve as the point of departure for the approach to and distancing between problem and solution, between person and person. Circling as a steady analysis of the things of the world. “KREISEN” talks about the fact that every action produces a lasting effect, about life itself, about the joy of vitality. An ode to the pulse.

Anna Till is a freelance choreographer based in Dresden. She studied dance, context, choreography at HZT Berlin and applied culture studies in Lüneburg. The focus of her dance productions lies in international exchange and artistic collaboration. They include “parallel situation” (2017) and “Experiencing Time” (2021) with video artist Barbara Lubich. Her projects are supported by numerous partner institutions and presented both nationally and internationally.
