NO LIGHTS NO LYCRA
No Xmas No Drama! For exactly 60 minutes on 19 December, the lights will be switched off again and the empty hall will be opened up for a dance event where everyone can dance their way out of the annual pre-Christmas frenzy uninhibited and unobserved. No dress code, no show dancing, no alcohol and no speculoos - just a groovy hour of bitchy sounds, fun techno and hard beats.
Between workshop and workout, NO LIGHTS NO LYCRA is above all a collective dance experience that easily subverts social barriers and standardisation. The movement was founded in Melbourne in 2009 and has since spread rapidly around the world.
The sounds are produced by no_drama@hotmail, a collaboration between Leipzig-based artists Cora Czarnecki and Jasmina Rezig. As a DJ team, the two dedicate themselves to various genres such as New Jersey, Techhouse, Pop, Voque and Techno. They focus on queer* and feminist* lyrics about sexuality and the body, using different strategies to provoke, empower and trigger sexy lust. Sweat hard!
